Have you noticed the exciting number of festivals celebrating winter this year?
A few weeks ago we made a trip to the Alpine Winter Festival 2010 which was held on the forecourt of St Mary’s Cathederal in the city. The temporary ice rink provided us all with lots of fun…and a few wet bottoms!! With our tickets we received a free cup of hot chocolate from Max Brenner which warmed our hands after our time on the ice and was SOOOO delicious we ordered another!!
This festival including the ice rink has now moved to Bondi Beach until Sunday 25 July!! Yes, can you believe they have taken this authentic alpine winter festival to Australia’s most famous stretch of sand!! The Alpine Ski Hut offers visitors an authentic après ski feeling with the spice and warmth of alpine delicacies, including gluhwein, goulash, German Bratwurst and more. So get down to Bondi and see it for yourself before the festival heads south to Melbourne in August.

The magic of a European winter is also underway at CarriageWorks in the heart of Sydney’s inner west until the end of July. The inaugural Winterland festival boasts an indoor ice rink, live music, an arts & craft market, traditional winter cuisine along with lots of other fun activities for the whole family.
So why not embrace the cool air, join in the fun and celebrate winter!! We certainly are!!
