trick or treat

We had a great time “Trick or Treating” in our local neighbourhood again this year.  Unfortunately a VERY heavy storm hit right at the peak of the festivities!!  But despite being soaked to the bone it was not enough to dampen our spirits or ruin the event!!  Thank you to everyone for participating and for making it a safe and happy Halloween.

all dressed up

Here are a few fun images of our customers wearing the Halloween costumes & accessories which they purchased at love to celebrate!!

Our good friends at Vision Personal Training Lindfield  also embraced Halloween.  They dressed up last Friday morning and tried to scare all their clients!! Great job guys!!

halloween at the shop

We can’t believe Halloween is over for another year!! At love to celebrate we had so much fun!! On Halloween morning we opened the shop from 11am – 2pm and set up a sweet treat table in front of the shop to raise money for both breast cancer & brain cancer which are causes close to our hearts.

Our resident baker Louise (pictured middle) cooked up a storm in her kitchen the night before preparing wonderful treats such as the bone-shaped meringues, pumpkin cupcakes, whoopie pies and chocolate cookies.

We also had some wonderful spooky cakes from Kiss Me Cake and delicious cupcakes from My Little Cupcake which we decorated with our Halloween cupcake picks!!

Thank you to everyone who came along to support us.  We appreciate your generosity and support and look forward to seeing you again soon!!

fun faces

We love these inspiring Halloween costume ideas which basically take a ”touch” of face paint and some simple accessories which most youngsters have in their “dress up box” or wardrobe…or that can be purchased at love to celebrate!!

The list of possible Halloween costumes is almost endless and it seems these days anything goes!!  Fairies, cartoon characters, animals, characters from books or movies, historical figures, pirates and super heroes always seem to play a starring role!

Images from Reader's Digest

But so too do costumes which scream “HALLOWEEN” such as witches, wizards, monsters, zombies, devils and the likes. What costume are you wearing or making this Halloween??

miniature cake treats

At love to celebrate we LOVE these Halloween cakes from the very talented Sonia at Kiss Me Cake so much that we have ordered a selection for our very own Halloween celebration!!  We have asked Sonia to personalise ours so they co-ordinate perfectly with our fun Halloween napkins .

If you are celebrating Halloween whether it be a simple get-together or a birthday party why not “treat” your guests to these delightful miniature works of art.  We can assure you they not only look great but they taste DELICIOUS too!!

supermarket treats

At love to celebrate we LOVE scouring the supermarket each Halloween to find lollies and treats which work well with our theme and colour scheme before searching any further.

This week while doing our weekly shop at our local supermarket we found this great selection of goodies which tie in perfectly with this year’s colour scheme – orange, black, lime & purple!!

Last year we found some fantastic orange & white M&M’s for our lolly jars which were also orange in flavour… and DELICIOUS!!  We are yet to find them again this year but we are sure they are out there…somewhere??

take a look!!

As our Halloween goodies have been arriving we gathering inspiration and trying to work out exactly what to put on display in our front window.  Last year we had a FABULOUS Halloween cake by Yogi at Sweet Dreams Cakes and lots of jars filled with lollies!!

This year we wanted something a bit different even though there are many, many wonderful images of Halloween themed dessert tables and candy bars travelling around the blogoshpere. We aren’t sure if this window will last the entire month of October but we thought it was a fun place to start!!

While the traditional Halloween colours- black and orange – still play a starring role in our decor and decorations this year we have also decided to add touches of purple and lime green where possible.

Our favourite felt “Trick or Treat” flag bunting which proved extremely popular with our customers last year is back in stock as are lots of other goodies!!

30 days and counting…

Yesterday we received this fantastic Halloween calendar from a special friend of ours in the United States (thanks Jill!!).  We had our fingers crossed that it would arrive in time for the first day of October for us to start counting down the days to Halloween…and it did!!

Just like the traditional Christmas Advent calendar there is a pocket for each day of the month. Tomorrow we are going to fill each pocket with a little treat (or trick) and the first customer who visits us and says “Trick or Treat” each day of October will receive whatever is in the pocket of that day!! There will be just one treat each day so if you are in the neighbourhood pop in and don’t forget to say “Trick or Treat”!!
